New Delhi: A massive fire broke at north Delhi’s Sadar Bajar on Monday evening, due to which at least 350 huts were gutted and around 700 people were left homeless. The fire was started around 6:45 pm and it was controlled after three hours and it was suspected that the reason behind the blaze may be the short circuit after which the cylinder exploded.

According to a senior fire officer, "There are many scrap dealers and dhabas in the area. The main cause of the rapid spread of fire was the presence of inflammable substances and cylinders".

“A call was received around 6.44 pm regarding a fire that broke out in the 'jhuggis' near the tonga stand in Sadar Bazar. We have sent at least 30 fire tenders to the spot. Cooling operations are underway. Four persons have been injured but the number could go up," said, a Delhi Fire Services official.
