Acting in response to a question, he said the IAF is ready to win on the challenge of a two-front war.

NEW DELHI: The Indian Air Force is capable of countering China and ready to win on the challenge of a two-front war, Air Chief B S Dhanoa said on Thursday.

Speaking in a press conference here on the eve of Air Force Day, the Air Chief Marshal said his force is ready for full spectrum operations but added that any decision on surgical strike involving the IAF has to be carried out  by the government.

"We are ready to win on any challenge," he said.

It is better for Armed Forces Chiefs to be quiet in front of the press. Such news would put together the diplomatic relationship and difficulties for Central Govt.

Army chief General Bipin Rawat had said last month that the country should be ready for a two-front war, be firm China has started "flexing its muscles", while there seems to be no scope for settlement with Pakistan whose military and polity saw a rival in India.

The Chief of Air Staff also said the IAF will pull off sanctioned strength of 42 fighter squadrons by 2032.
