Colors launched a powerful show 'Na Aana Iss Des Laado' that presented the evil custom of female infanticide and rampant misogyny prevalent in the year 2009 in rural areas of our country. Ammaji, played by Meghna Malik played the woman in power who supported the social evil. Now, as the show is making a comeback with a new season, things have changed for the iron fist lady and her surrounding in Veerpur. In an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com, the 41-year-old actor shared her excitement on Laado – Veerpur Ki Mardaani, “Never did I think that Laado will come back with a new season. Firstly, we don’t have a woman of her age playing the central character so the first round itself was a different move. We are so used to seeing 20 something characters playing leads in today’s time. So, when they called me for the second season, I initially thought they were joking.”
Ammaji was a highly commendable character. When asked what new will this role have, the actor smiled to share, “No doubt she will be intense but she will also add a lot of colour. There would be a lot of variation in the new Ammaji and she will be highly entertaining. Since I have just started shooting for it, I might not select a favourite. For me the base of the character is same but playing the different shades is really challenging.”
We further asked Meghna if she missed her old team while shooting for this show. Smilingly she replied, “Interestingly, the excitement that the channel and creative team has, it doesn’t look like I am doing a sequel but a new show altogether. It feels great to see so many new people supporting and helping the show to reach a new milestone. But yes, few moments while on the go does give me a nostalgic feel.”Laado 2 will also star Avika Gor, Palak Jain, Dakssh Ajit Singh, Ankit Raaj and Rituraj Singh among others. It will launch on November 6 at 9:30 pm.
