Delhi Police have arrested two persons from Mahipalpur area in south Delhi, for allegedly robbing truck carrying i-Phone 5s mobile phones worth Rs 2.25 crore. Police have recovered over 900 i-Phones and the car used in the crime.

DCP (south) Ishwar Singh said the accused have been identified as Mehtab Alam, 24, and Arman, 22 —both residents of Mahipalpur. “Mehtab Alam was arrested from Mahipalpur while Arman was arrested from Rangpuri area in south Delhi,” he added.

Singh said the robbery took place on September 13, when the truck carrying the phones was on its way from Okhla to Dwarka. “The duo, with their accomplices, held the truck driver captive before robbing the phones near Rajokri flyover,” he added.

He said the men then dumped the driver near Dwarka Link Road.

“During investigation it was found that two robbers — Bhola and Pradeep — were the former drivers of the truck, and had left their jobs two weeks ago,” he added.
