Manohar Parrikar resigned from the post of Defence Minister as he is heading to become the Chief Minister of Goa. As the post is empty, the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is told to take charge of the Defence Minister.

"Further as advised by the Prime Minister, the President has directed that Shri Arun Jaitley, Cabinet Minister, shall be assigned the charge of the Ministry of Defence, in addition to his existing portfolios," a statement from President Pranab Mukherjee office said.

From today he will formally take the charge.

In Goa, Congress party got 17 seats while BJP got 13 seats and there are total 40 seats on which the elections were done. To make a Government here in the state it is necessary to have 21 seats. The other parties who got left seats as per the sources news supported BJP.
