Google street view is one of the most widely used and appreciated feature all across the world. Unfortunately ever since its launch this feature has not seen light in India. There were many speculations as to why this feature is not available in India. Now an official has said that this was because Google has still not received any permission for street view on the policy front.

Street view as been available in many countries and allows users to explore various landmarks and see all the natural wonder of the world. There are many different features available for the users to use the street view application. Users, if wanted, can go into a museum or arena or even in transport hubs. In south-east Asia this feature has been active in Sri Lanka and Bangladesh whereas there has been news that Japan and Indonesia are soon going to deploy it.

According to Sanjay Gupta, Map Leads, Google India, till now, they haven’t received the necessary permission and discussions are still underway. It’s more towards the policy side as to why there has been a delay in getting the permission and they are hopeful that this will be sorted out soon.

Google understands that India is a very vast land with more than 5000 cities and about six lakh villages which are why they are aiming to develop a more country relevant feature. India is goggles one of the biggest markets with it being the top 5 countries which are using Google Maps.
