Here are some great kitchen hacks!
1. Slows down rotting
Store your tomatoes with the stem end facing down to keep them from rotting and spoiling quickly.
2. Keep potatoes white
Cover diced potatoes or shredded potatoes with cold water to prevent them from getting brown.
3. Keep bananas fresh
Wrap the end of the bunch with a plastic wrap, or even better separate each banana. Plastic wrap blocks ethylene gases from releasing out of the system.
4. Saves a cut apple from browning
Squeeze lemon juice on cut apple it prevents the apple from turning brown.
5. Prevents brown sugar from hardening
Put an orange peel or a slice of apple along with the sugar into an air tight container.
6. Check if eggs are spoilt
Place raw eggs in a bowl of cold water, if the eggs sink to the bottom, then it's okay. If the eggs float, then it is spoilt
