Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Calcutta, finished the final placement process for the PGDM batch of 2017 within three days. A total of 474 offers were made to students, including those from international companies. The highest domestic package was Rs 70 lakh per annum, whereas the highest international package amounted to 90,000 Euros (Rs 63 lakh approx) per annum.
The finance sector was among the top recruiters with companies such as Avendus, Edelweiss, Goldman Sachs, and HSBC hiring students.
Consulting sector emerged as the second highest recruiter contributing to 22% of the total offers made. Top recruiters in this sector were Accenture, AT Kearney, Bain, BCG, McKinsey.

Moreover, the finance sector once again dominated the placements

In addition to this, there were 15 per cent of offers from General Management firms like ABG, CK Birla and TAS
Also, e-commerce and IT firms contributed to 14 per cent of the total offers and companies like Amazon, Wipro etc hired in big numbers.
Last month, the two well-known management institutes of the country-- IIM(Indian Institute of Management) Calcutta and IIM Shillong-were decided to be renamed according to the IIM Bill which was introduced in the Lok Sabha.
While former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi's name will be dropped from IIM Shillong, IIM Calcutta will be renamed as IIM Kolkata.
