In Northlands Coliseum, Edmonton today India will face host Canada when they begin their Davis Cup World Group playoff tie.
Ramkumar Ramanathan who is ranked 154 in the first singles match will have a face off with debutant Bradley Schnur. Yuki Bhambri in the second men's singles match will have a match with world number 51 Denis Shapovalov.
The Indian team is making their fourth straight attempt to make it to the elite 16-nation World Group, having lost in the last three years to Serbia in 2014, the Czech Republic in 2015 and Spain in 2016 in the Playoffs.
For the doubles rubber which is scheduled to be played on tomorrow the India captain, Mahesh Bhupathi has teamed up Rohan Bopanna with Purav Raja instead of Saketh Myneni.
