New Delhi: on Wednesday night, surgical strikes were carried out by the Indian army at the LoC in Jammu and Kashmir to prevent Pakistani terrorists who had sited themselves at launch pads with the intend to carry out strikes in Jammu and Kashmir and other metros.
Former air chief Fali Major, explained, while flattering last night's operation for its execution, “A surgical strike is a calculated maneuver to ensure you deliver maximum damage which gives a big surprise to your adversary”.
DGMO Lt General Ranbir Singh said, "Significant casualties have been caused in these strikes, the operation has now ended. The strikes targeted the terrorists and those backing them".
"Despite our persistent appeals to Pakistan to not allow territory under its control to be used for terrorist activities, nothing was done," the DGMO added.
Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been called a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) to review the situation along the LoC.
