Actor Kamal Haasan has lashed out at the govt for the rate proposed to be applied as tax to the current movie ticket price.

According to him, regional Cinema will be affected more with this rates. Kamal Haasan in an interview has said, "Regional cinema is the strength and pride of Indian cinema. Diversity is the reason why this country is strong. You cannot pressurize regional cinema through taxation."

The actor also said, "Regional movies were made on 'minuscule' budgets, unlike Bollywood and Hollywood films. Of 2,100 films made in India in 2016, 1,700 were in the regional languages. This kind of high rates of tax will kill the regional films."

Haasan lashed out at govt. by saying, "I don't want to remind you that most of the awards for the country have come from small films which are made at one-tenth budget of Hindi films."
