Aadhar card is now becoming a compulsory document in India, which gives evidence of your identity and address. The government has recently made it mandatory for the taxpayers to add their Aadhaar card with the PAN card for filing income tax. Even for opening a new bank account, applying for a passport or for getting a new SIM connection, the Aadhaar Card now works as a valid document.

In such a situation, it is important to be concerned about its misuse. However, many cyber crimes have also been seen in recent times. There were also reports that the base number and personal details of 135 million Indians could be leaked. However, the authorities made it clear that the system is indisputable, and the base data can not be leaked.

In order to ensure that your personal data is safe, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has provided a biometric lock and unlock facility, which you can lock or unlock your base according to your convenience. When your base data is locked, the system will not be able to authenticate your base profile. There are two ways to do this, and we will explain how it works.

You can lock-unlock biometrics using the mAdhaar app. UIDAI recently created the mAadhaar app for Android OS. In which you can control your privacy by adding your base profile. To do this, you have to download the app then you will have to set a profile password. After this, enter your base number after the OTP for the authentication.

Now, on the home screen, you will see your base profile with your name, photo and 12-digit number. On the right side you will see three points, which will give biometric settings, profile view QR-code, and the option to share your e-kyc. After this you tap on the biometric lock, enter your profile password, and your biometrics will lock.

After this, you will see a small lock icon near your profile on the home page, which means your base card is locked. To unlock your profile, tap on the lock icon after entering your password. It will be unlocked for 10 minutes and you will be able to see your profile.

In addition to the mAadhaar app, you can also lock-unlock your base biometrics by using the UIDAI website. Then put the base number and captcha. After this, the OTP will come on your registered number. Insert in the box that's on the screen. Then click Login.

Once the biometrics lock on, you can unlock it by clicking on the unlock button. Base biometric unlocking is temporary and valid for only 10 minutes. And to do this, your mobile number should be connected to the base. If your mobile number is not linked, you will have to go to the base enrollment centre for this.
