"Muharram festival turns into violence, stone pelting at two parts of the country"
Vadodara: On Sunday, during the immersion procession of Tajiya during Muharram three people were injured in violence that happened in Gujarat's Vadodara.
All three injured persons were admitted to a private hospital, as police officials have fired three rounds and 4 teargas shells while an attempt to restore law and order.
However, on the other accident, more than a dozen people have been arrested by the police on Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. As similar clashes broke out between two communities' member during a Muharram procession.
As per the Kanpur police, "members of the two communities during a Muharram procession, who threw vehicles bricks at each other and torched vehicles."
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police Alok Singh talking to PTI said that the incident occurred when the procession deviated from its fixed route. Perturbed, some members of another community started throwing stones at it in Parampurva area.
It is also reported that four motorcycles and two cars were set on fire during the fight.
Singh further said, "three people were injured in the incident. Four companies (around 400 personnel) of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) and a company of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) have been deployed in the area to maintain peace."
