Putting a step forward to provide ease to the common people of India, now railway ministry takes the step. Now you can book your railway ticket without being part of the rush, with the help of your e-wallets like PayTM, JioMoney and Airtel Money. No reservations are provided here to the user.

This step also helps in saving paper as this booking paperless. And railway is also free from the huge chunk Unreserved ticketing forms and "we want to tap this sector through e-commerce", said a senior Railway Ministry official. No cost occurs to the railways for the following facility. “Many top mobile wallet companies are keen on joining the railways,” the official said,

E-wallets are already providing services for other services like taxi bookings, movie tickets bookings and other services.  But joining railway takes their services to the other level. And this decision of railway ministry is a big game changer for the private sector. This decision will help both the sectors private and government sector. “The move is a win-win proposition for both the railways and the mobile wallet companies,” the official said.

India has the second largest railway transportation, which helps 23 million passengers to travel. And 6% of them are from reserved category, remaining is the unreserved portion. At present, mobile ticketing options are available in a few suburban sections including Chennai, Mumbai and Delhi-Palwal.

According to the railways, “the uses of e-wallets like PayTM etc. in the unreserved ticketing system are expected to boost the paperless mobile ticketing operation.” This is a part of “Digital India” mission of Mr Prime Minister.
