PM to hold review meet to make decision on Pakistan's MFN status

New Delhi: On Thursday, a meeting to be held by the Prime Minister to assess the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status granted to Pakistan.

After the deadliest attack in the Uri which killed dozens of soldiers, India is evaluating various options to respond and isolate Islamabad, so the decision to review MFN status comes in the wake of Uri attack.

It is expected that officials from commerce and external affairs ministries will be going to attend the meeting.

According to sources, “the meeting may deliberate upon the option of dragging Pakistan to the World Trade Organisation's (WTO) dispute settlement mechanism for not according similar status to India.”
