In the opening trade of the week, the Sensex had slipped over 88 points. The 30-share index fell 88.32 points, or 0.30 percent, to 29,373.13. The NSE Nifty dropped 21.25 points, or 0.23 percent, to 9,129.55.
The Hong Kong's Hang Seng was down 0.21per cent, Japan's Nikkei shed 0.31 percent. In early trade today the Shanghai Composite index fell 1.02 per cent.
On Friday the market was closed due to the Ambedkar Jayanti and Good Friday.
