Mumbai: In a shocking incident, family members of 80-year-old woman tortured her by hanging her upside down to a ceiling fan.

Police arrested the members today, and the matter came in front after a professed vedio of the act went viral. NGO- Nari Singh submitted the video to the D N nagar police station.

According to a senior police inspector Dhanaji Nalawade, "The woman's son Surendra Vaid 47 years old used to tie her using a bedsheeet and hang her to the fan upside down and switch on the fan. The family made a video of the act from their cell phone".

According to the complaint, trio tortured the woman in this way since three years. Police arrested the accused Surendra, his wife Babita 43 years old and their daughter Akshaya 19 years old and also rescued the woman.

Surendra alleged during the enquiry, that his mother was mentally ill and she used to move out of home. So, they did the act only to make her scare.

“Surendra got police custody till tomorrow, while his wife and daughter were given judicial custody, added Nalawade.
