Uttar Pradesh Wizards were quick to bounce back with an inspired show to beat Jaypee Punjab Warriors in Hockey India League. The winners got the victory at 6-2 in Chandigarh on February 13.

Players who led the team in front were Shamsher Singh who hit the goal at 5th minute, Ajay Yadav at 40th and Akashdeep Singh at 58th. The match was likely to be a do or die for Uttar Pradesh Wizards and the win gave them a chance of making it to the semi-finals.

The fixture was a crucial one for both the teams in which UP took their chance while the hosts Jaypee Punjab Warriors would be at the third spot on the points table if they had prevailed.
