On May 9 2016, a transit of Mercury across the face of the sun takes place. An event will happen again after 2006 and won’t occur again until 2019.
Although the next event will happen in November 2019, it won't be visible from India until 2032.
Because Mercury is seen against the solar disk, a transit can be viewed from anywhere on the Earth where sun is above the horizon at the time of the event.
