Tata sells its publishing house Westland. And the buyer is none other than the biggest e-commerce website on earth, Amazon. Amazon India has made the deal for Rs. 39.8 crore with Tata Sons. The publishing house has published many books that have been bestsellers. It has published for the authors like Amish Tripathi, Ashwin Sanghi and Rashmi Bansal.

The company was a subsidiary of Tata’s retal arm Trent and was about 50 years older. Amazon in February acquired 26 per cent of Westland’s share for 9.5 crore through a US subsidiary.

The acquisition will help Amazon to “ bring Westland’s highly talented authors and their books to even more customers”, said Amit Agarwal, country manager at Amazon India.
