A bombing happened at an non-professional boxing match in a central province of Philippine that injured a total of 33 people said the local government.

Police said, "An 81-millimetre mortar round was detonated remotely by cellphone during the amateur bout outside a shopping mall in Leyte province late on Wednesday". Police said no suspects had been identified and no group had claimed responsibility.

President Rodrigo Duterte said," the threat of a proliferation of festering Islamist militancy in the Philippines and an infiltration by the Islamic State militant group if offensives to drive its fighters out of Iraq and Syria succeed."

Earlier a blast took place outside a Church on the Christmas eve that wounded around 16 people but the police has still not found any links between both the blasts.
