Google engineers having a sound profile of leaving their customers satisfied. Continuous evolution and introduction to the latest technology is the perfect example of this. Google not only introduces new things but also believes in optimising the existing products.
Google chrome browser is widely used application across the world. Going ahead with their innovation, latest chrome version is said to be 15 percent faster as compared to the previous version. Talking about the innovation added, they have said to have added the Microsoft's Profile Guided Optimization which will be filtering the tasks or functions which are mostly used compared to those which are hardly used. This will enable the browser application to open a new tab 15 percent faster and loading a page 6 percent faster. Their testing reports claim to achieve 16 percent faster startup time.
"PGO optimises the memory location of the code, moving rarely-used functions away from frequently-used ones in memory. This results in the most optimal use of the CPU instruction cache by avoiding caching of less-used code, increasing overall performance. There are many other tricks that PGO uses to make Chrome faster, and they add up to great results," Google's software engineer Sebastien Marchand explains.
Google has introduced PGO on the latest 64-bit Chrome version 53 on Windows and 32-bit Chrome version 54 for now. Chrome 54 is already available for desktop, Android, and even Chromebook users.
