New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has increased the examination fees for students significantly. The Board has increased the fees for class 10 and 12 board examinations for SC and ST students from Rs 50 to Rs 1,200, while the general category has doubled the fee for students who will now have to pay Rs 1,500. Sc and ST students will have to pay Rs 1,200 for five subjects, while earlier they had to pay Rs 50 for that. That means the fee hike for them has gone up 24 times.

The general category students who used to pay Rs 750 for the first five subjects will now have to pay 1500 rupees. The CBSE senior official said the fee will be applicable for class 10th and 12th examinations. 300 will now have to be paid to SC and ST students who were not required to pay any additional fee in the past to appear for a one-to-one subject in the 12th Board Examination.

300 for an additional subject, earlier, Rs.150 was to be paid. 100 percent of blind students are exempted from paying CBSE exam fees. Students who fail to deposit the difference of CBSE examination fee before the last date will not be registered and will not be allowed to appear in the 2019-20 examination. The migration fee, which was earlier Rs 150, has also been increased to Rs 350. The CBSE has hiked the fees after a full five years.
