Oil spill on Saturday in Chennai coast due to collison of two Cargo ship was 10 times more than the previous one. It killed many aquatic animals and also impacted their habitat for upcoming days.

As per the latest reports, total 65 tonnes of sludge have been removed from the coast. Reports says that 90% of the sludge has been eliminated, only 10% more to be cleaned.
Centre also said that, instead of one week, only couple of days will be enough to clean the remaining sludge. 

As per the sources, an official said, "More than 90% of the work has been completed and most of the residual work is expected to be completed in a couple of days,”

Official statement further added, "The Indian Oil Corporation has provided special bio-remediation material for treatment of the collected oil sludge for its safe disposal. HPCL has arranged for trailers and manpower for transporting collected sludge to Ennore port area for bio remediation treatment under the expert guidance of IOC R&D experts where 2000 Sq.M. pit has been created for the purpose."
