The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) is working on its Aadhar verification process. The non-profit and non-government organization have announced the statement on re-verification activity.
COAI said that the re-verification of the of cellular operator subscriber through Aadhar based eKYC method will cost Rs 2,500cr. As per the resource, Rajan Mathews Director General of COAI said, "The re-verification activity entails a huge cost which is borne by the telecom service providers. In this case, the activity needs to be carried out for about 1,000 million subscribers which are a huge number and involves humongous resources and efforts.”
COAI says that this law is going to be strict thus they will proceed it according to their will. COAI added, "During the re-verification exercise, subscriber inconvenience should be avoided. It is, therefore, submitted that re-verification through Aadhaar-based eKYC should not be mandated at the time of recharge.”
