March 31 is new deadline for Aadhaar Submission: EPFO

The Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has extended the date for providing the Aadhaar number, to March 31. A top official said on Thursday that it has urged subscribers to the scheme and pensioners to adhere to the deadline.

The retirement fund body has made it mandatory for about 50 lakh pensioners and around 4 crore subscribers to provide Aadhaar to remain the beneficiary of its social security schemes.

V.P Joy, central provident fund commissioner, EPFO said ‘’We had given time until February 28 and now it has been extended to March 31. We are requesting everybody to furnish the Aadhaar number.’’ He also added by saying that ‘’Aadhaar had been made mandatory to ensure that there is no fraud in disbursing pension and there is complete transparency.'' The retirement entity has undertaken a massive upgrade of its technology.
