As V K Sasikala Natarajan imprisoned for the disproportionate case, she balanced her faction by picking up a new candidate to contest for the post of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Elappadi Palanisamy. 

Governor C Vidyasagar Rao, when invited both the factions of AIADMK- O Panneerselvam and Elappadi Palanisamy to show the list of supporting MLA in the faction. Palanisamy enlisted 124 MLAs and Panneerselvam showed only 11 enlisted supporters in his faction. 

The huge majority supports Palanisamy, which ensures that the government will be established by Palanisamy. As per the reports, Sasikala will be having control over the party from the jail.
