New Delhi: An ex-serviceman of the Indian army, Ram Kishan Grewal committed suicide on the historic place of Jantar Mantar. This suicide is done under long talked issue of 'One Rank One Pension (OROP)'. Before his death, the former military man wrote a letter stating that this step is a sacrifice for the Indian soldiers.

Son of the ex-serviceman of the Indian army, said,” he called us and informed us that he is committing suicide as the government has failed to fulfil demands related to OROP.” Grewal’s family blames the central government for their pain and seeks justice.

The OROP scheme has been a long-standing demand of the over two million ex-servicemen of India. It seeks to ensure that a uniform pension is paid to the defence personnel retiring in the same rank with the same length of service, irrespective of their date of retirement.
