Holi, the festival of colors. But the day is not limited to playing with the colors. It is the time of the year when flowers bloom, the sun shines, country comes back to life and elders come back to being little kids again.
It is believed that celebration of Holi begins to celebrate the victory of good over evil. Holi revolves around the story of Prahlad and his father Hiranyakashyap.

1. The six-day long festival in Manipur.
Yes. In Manipur, the Holi festival is celebrated for six long days. The festival initiates from the full moon day of Phalguna. The most interesting thing about this is that boys have to expend something to play Holi with girls. It is a ritual that girls ask for money from boys for playing Holi with them. On the sixth day, hundreds of devotees take out processions towards the main Krishna temple, 3 km west of the state capital, Imphal where various cultural activities are performed.
2. The total traditional form of Holi in Vrindavan and Mathura.
Have you ever celebrated an event or a festival 40 days before its date? In the towns of Mathura and Vrindavan, Holi celebrations begin a month before on Vasant Panchami itself. The Sri Krishna Janmastham in Mathura organizes a renowned show in the week just before Holi. Also, the festival is celebrated for a week long at Shri Banke Bihari Mandir in Vrindavan.
3. The so-called Lathmar in Barsana
As we know that Lord Krishna went to the village of Barsana on this day to meet his beloved Radha and teased her and her friends and the women in return chased him away anyway. Similarly, since then the men from the village of Nandgaon use to visit Barsana to tease and play Holi with the Womenfolk and the women chase them away with lathis.
4. Synonyms Synonyms everywhere
No no, actually not. There are some other names of Holi which are designed as per the traditions of playing it. In the West, it is known as Dol Jatra or Dol Purnima. In Maharashtra part of India, Holi is called as Shimga and in Gujarat, it is called as Dhuleti.
5. The Holi inspired events
Event Series like The Color Run and Color Me Rad are inspired by the Holi festival. These are for-profit companies which are developed for the foreign countries.
