Former minister and BJP leader Paidikondala Manikyala Rao died today. He was born in 1961 in Thadepalligudem. He started his career as a photographer and became a minister thereafter. He was active in the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh being a Swatha Swayamsevak. The former leader joined the BJP in 1989 and gradually rose to prominence thereafter. He has rendered many services to the party by taking the positions of District General Secretary and District President.

Manikyala Rao won for the first time as a BJP MLA from Thadepalligudem. Manikyala Rao, who was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2014, served as the Minister of Revenue and Charity while he was active in the TDP government. He continued as the party general secretary in the party organizational elections in 2018.

Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy expressed shock over the death of Manikyala Rao. He conveyed his deepest condolences to the minister's family. He said he was praying to God so that his soul rests in peace. The former minister was ordered to be cremated along with formalities pertaining to COVID-19. Orders have been issued to the District Collector of West Godavari regarding the same.

BJP AP state president Shri Somu Veerraju said that Manikyala Rao's death was a great shock. He said the death was a desperate loss to the party. He expressed his deepest sympathies to the family members.
