Many instructions have been given by the High Court from time to time regarding the use of helmets, now the Bombay High Court has issued a new directive while hearing a petition. The court has strictly instructed the automobile manufacturer and the dealership to give two helmets with two-wheelers repeatedly, instructions have been given many times before but no concrete steps have been taken in this matter. On Wednesday, the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court directed to take stringent steps in this matter and also said that if two helmets are not provided to the customers of the two-wheelers by the dealership or the manufacturer, the vehicles Registrations of will be closed. The court has given 6 weeks time to the state government and the transport commissioner in this case and stated that the Central Motor Vehicle Rules (CMVR), 1989 be strictly followed.

For your information, a PIL was filed on a large scale violation of CMVR by social activists Saurabh Bhardwaj and Manish Singh Chauhan, after which the court has sought answers from the responsible authorities whether the rules are strictly followed. At present, a helmet is being provided to the customers while delivering the vehicle. The petitioners have appealed to the court to direct the State Transport Ministry to conduct an inquiry against the RTO and the reports filed. Also take action against dealers and manufacturers who have failed to provide helmets to customers.
