New Delhi: Till Now, Jhan Dhan bank accounts have been credited with a massive amount of Rs. 21,000 crore after the sudden announcement of demonetization by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on November 8.
According to Finance Ministry sources, maximum credited amount was reported in West Bengal and Karnataka.
"It is hereby clarified that such tax evasion activities can be made subject to income tax and penalty if it is established that the amount deposited in the account was not of the account holder but of somebody else," the ministry said.
