Nation residents are all set to celebrate the 68th Republic Day on 26 January tomorrow. On this day in 1950, the Constitution of India came into force replacing the Government of India Act (1935).

For the celebration of the occasion a Republic Day Parade is organized every year in New Delhi. The Representatives of the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force also take part in it.

At the starting of the event, Prime Minister of India lay a wreath at the Amar Jawan Jyoti at India Gate. People from the armed forces and civilians are also given awards and medals for their bravery.

26 January is the National Holiday in the country. All the National, state and local government offices, post offices and banks remain close on this day. The tricolor National Flag play a important role on Republic day. A wheel in the white band represents chakra.
