New Delhi: Simultaneous raids has been conducted by the tax officials in four different cities to locate people having huge amounts of the 500 and 1,000 rupee notes that can no longer be used for dealings.
Cities in which raids have been carried out include Delhi, Mumbai, Ludhiana and Chandigarh. The main targets of tax officials were Jewellers and money-launderers.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday announced the demonetization of Rs. 500 notes and Rs. 1000 notes in a special televised speech to crack down on black money, after which an environment of tension has been created among the Civilians.
PM Modi tweeted on Thursday, "I assure you the Govt is unwavering in its effort to create an India that is corruption free & fruits of development touch every citizen, (sic)".
