Let’s get this loud and clear – Pregnancy is not a disease. Stop treating pregnant women like they are not capable of doing certain things. Travelling is one of them. They restrict them from travelling far or travelling anywhere where they feel like; unless there is a medical condition. Pregnant women need a break too. You just need to be a little more cautious.

Here are a few tips that will make travel safe for pregnant women:

  • Picking the right spot - This is the first thing you need to check. Be open to options and select the one which best suits you and your husband.

  • Right Time - The right time to travel or go on a small vacation is between 14-28 weeks, which is the second trimester. Still it is best you ask or inform your doctor about it.

  • Mode of transport - Depends on the place you are going, you need to decide which mode of transport is most convenient for you.

  • If travelling by road, carry your own food. Stop in between to stretch your legs and walk a little.

  • If travelling by train, which is possible in the latter months of pregnancy, book an air conditioned coach, as this will be more comfortable. This ideally is a better option than road.

  • Air travel is considered the safest for pregnant women. But again you should ask for your doctor’s consent if there is any kind of risk of preterm delivery.

  • Travel Insurance - It is advisable to take travel insurance as you may not know in case an emergency arises.

  • Medicines - Do not forget to carry your vitamins and other medicines prescribed.

  • Comfy clothing - Carry all light weight comfortable clothing to accommodate for changes in temperature and climate

Traveling solo - Few tips to keep in mind!!!
