On the 8th November 2016, US presidential votes were held for the election of 45th US president. The social network was quite active on sharing each and every news of the moment. Facebook and Twitter were in the competition of attaining most website traffic. By the evening of the event, microblogging site Twitter has broken its own record set in 2012.
During the 2012 presidential elections twitter has reported having close to 32 million tweets related to the presidential election event. Going ahead of the previous milestone, this time the tweet count has gone beyond 35 million.
"Twitter is still the platform for what's happening right now, while Facebook focuses on showing users the things they're most likely to engage with," Jan Dawson, chief analyst at Jackdaw Research, was quoted as saying.
Donald Trump has 13.1 million followers on Twitter while Hillary Clinton has 10.4 million.
This activity clearly shows the engagement of peoples with the social networking these days.
