Vijaya Bank shows a steady growth in Q2 report

Another public lending sector Vijaya Bank showed a steady growth in the Quarter 2 sale from July and September 2016. The bank reported a 34 per cent growth in the year-on-year basis. Net profit of Rs. 154.4 crore on strong net interest income was calculated. The asset quality also improved.

Net interest income during the quarter grew by 19.5 percent to Rs 827.8 crore while non-interest income doubled to Rs 388.3 crore on yearly basis.

Operating profit reported a whopping 43 percent growth at Rs 570.9 crore compared with year-ago period. Asset quality improvement was quite good in September quarter as gross non-performing assets (NPA) as a percentage of gross advances falling 24 basis points QoQ to 7.07 percent and net NPA down 32 bps to 5.1 percent.
