Whether your throat problems are caused by bacterial or viral infections, allergies or acid reflux, yoga is probably not the first thing you think of to find relief. But there are yoga poses that will soothe your throat.
- Simhasana (Lion Pose) this is one of the best yoga poses for relieving a sore throat. Sit on your knees with your thighs resting on your shanks. Keep your hands on your thighs and take a deep breath in. Open your mouth wide with your tongue sticking out. Exhale by resembling how a lion roars.
- Matsyasana (Fish Pose) this is one of the beginners pose. Lie on our back on the mat. Curve your tailbone under, keep legs together and toes pointed out. Slide your hands, palms down, underneath your bottom. Hug your elbows close to your sides. While inhaling lift your torso and head off the floor. Press down with your hands and elbows to keep your chest uplifted. Breathe long and evenly as you stay in Fish Pose for up to one minute.
- Paryankasana (Couch Pose) This posture requires adaptability in the knees and lower legs. This stance opens the lungs and mid-section. Breathe in and come up onto your knees. Take the back of the calf muscle and move it outward to make space for your rear end to sit on the floor, in the middle of your heels
- Ujjayi Breathing is an audible breathe that is often compared to the sound of the ocean. Although there is a constriction of the throat, the Ujjayi breath flows in and out through the nostrils, with the lips remaining gently closed.
