Because of her good looks, she was lured by many to try her hands at films but music always remained her first priority. However, she did act in few films in the 1930s and so on. In total, she acted 9 films that included 1942 hit Roti and Satyajeet Ray’s Jalsaghar. During a concert in Ahmedabad, she raised her voice to get her groove back but that further deteriorated her condition. She was rushed to the hospital where she breathed her last on October 30, 1974. It is said that she died in the arms of her friend Nilam Gamadia, who had invited her to perform in Ahmedabad in the first place.
