Bihar black fungus wreaks havoc, 12 patients killed in last 24 hours

Patna: After corona in Bihar, black fungus has now started wreaking havoc. New corona cases have come down considerably after the state imposed lockdowns, but Black Fungus has once again added to the woes of health department officials as well as the government and the general public. In the last 24 hours, more than corona-high black fungus patients have been admitted to the hospital.

According to information received from the health department, the number of patients infected with black fungus in the state has reached around 400. Meanwhile, 12 people have died of black fungus in the last 24 hours. In the wake of the fungus menace, the state government has increased the number of beds for black fungus patients in hospitals in the state. It may be recalled that in view of the increasing cases of black fungus in Bihar, the state government has declared it an epidemic last Saturday. Giving this information, Health Minister Mangal Pandey had said that black fungus has been notified under the Academic Diseases Act on the directions of CM Nitish Kumar. Mangal Pandey had said that several instructions have been issued by the health department under it.

He had informed that under the Act, the case of all suspected and certified mucormycosis (black fungus) patients will be reported to the Department of Health through civil surgeons of the district on behalf of all private and government health institutions.
