125-year-old man gets corona vaccine in Varanasi, reaches vaccination centre on his own

Varanasi: A 125-year-old man in Varanasi has taken a dose of the vaccine, ignoring all hesitation and rumours about the corona vaccine. Swami Shivanand reached a vaccination centre in Durga Kund on Wednesday and as soon as he showed his Aadhaar card, the medical staff was shocked. His date of birth is marked August 8, 1896 on the Aadhaar card, according to which he is 125 years old.

The medical staff was hesitant to give the vaccine, but Shivanand had no hesitation. He insisted on getting vaccinated and received his first dose. Shivanand, a resident of Kabir Nagar colony in Bhelupur area, had reached the vaccination centre alone to pick up the jab. He waited at the center for half an hour and then went home after getting vaccinated. Shivanand further said that the reason for his longevity is 'plain food and regular life'.

Shivanand further said, "I get up at 3 o'clock and go for a bath in the River Ganga. Then I do yoga. I eat very little or without oil and spices. I come from a very poor family and till date, I have never had a full diet. I eat only half of my hunger. Doing so reminds me of my humble background."
