16 Arrested in Al Qaeda Indian Subcontinent Operation: Dr. Ishtiaq's Terror Network Exposed

Ranchi: Dr. Ishtiaq Ahmed, the head of the Al Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) module exposed by various security agencies including the Delhi Police’s Special Cell, NIA, and Jharkhand ATS, has been arrested. Dr. Ishtiaq, a radiologist working in a Ranchi hospital, was also training terrorists for attacks. So far, 16 terrorists connected to this module have been apprehended, including six who were caught training in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan.

Dr. Ishtiaq's connections extend beyond terrorism; he is implicated in a land scam involving former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating whether funds from this scam were used to finance terrorist activities. Bablu Khan, a relative of jailed land scam figures Afsar Khan and Talha Khan, has been summoned by the ED. Dr. Ishtiaq and Bablu Khan are also family relatives, and Dr. Ishtiaq had ties with Bablu Khan’s hospital.

Dr. Ishtiaq’s AQIS module was active in Ranchi, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh. Following his arrest, the hospital where he worked terminated his services. During the operation, police seized a variety of weapons, including AK-47s and hand grenades, from the arrested terrorists in Bhiwadi, who are also from Jharkhand.

Dr. Ishtiaq, educated at RIMS Ranchi, had been running a clinic in Hazaribagh and was reportedly aiming to turn India into an Islamic state. The Jharkhand ATS conducted raids in multiple locations, including Henzla Kauwakhap village and Chanho, recovering weapons and documents, and detaining several individuals linked to Dr. Ishtiaq’s network.
