On the foundation day of Sai, 16 coaches were honored for being the best.

Sports Minister Anurag Thakur honored 16 coaches with the Best Coach Award on the occasion of Sports Authority of India (SAI) Foundation Day. Not only this, the Sports Minister has also honoured five Padma Shri coaches, including hockey player Rani Rampal and cricket coach Gurcharan Singh. A cash award of Rs 50,000 has also been given to 16 coaches, including Bhaskar Bhatt, the chief coach of the Indian team that won four gold medals in the World Women's Boxing Championship.

A cultural evening has also been organized at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in honor of the coaches on the foundation day. Padma Shri and former SAI coach Gurcharan Singh, Rani Rampal, veteran athlete Captain Sriram Singh, Paralympic gold medalist T Mariyappan in high jump, and 1998 Asian Games gold medalist late Dingko Singh were also honoured by the sports minister. His wife, Babai Devi, received the award for Dinko.

Vikram Chopra and Harsen selected the best coach for two years: Reports say High Performance Manager of Hockey Team Piyush Kumar Dubey, Paraathletic Coach Sunil Tanwar, Badminton Coach at Gopichand Badminton Academy KS Harsen, Shooting Coach for the year 2020-21 Deepak Kumar Dubey and shotgun shooting coach Vikram Chopra have been given the best coach award. Boxer coach Bhaskar Bhatt, Archery coach RamAwadhesh, Fencing coach Tukaram Mehtra, Judo coach Amit Vij, Badminton coach KS Harsen, Wushu coaches Nagesh and Ratnesh Singh Thakur, Gymnastics coach Vishal Deep, Shooting coach Vikram Chopra, Athletics coach Gurmeet for 2021-22 Singh and Para Powerlifting Coach Rajender Singh Rahelu have been honoured with the Best Coach Award.
