Indore: Former Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan, who has represented the country's cleanest city for 30 consecutive years, is going to be awarded the country's most prestigious Padma Bhushan. She is 77 years old and now Sumitra Tai has conveyed this honor to the people of Indore. Talking to a website recently, she said, "The love of the people of Indore kept them on the head forehead for 30 consecutive years and the result is that today I have got such great respect in the field of social work. Whatever I did, the people of Indore have always appreciated, never condemned. Why I got the Padma Bhushan is very surprising. I did not do much of it. She definitely worked with authenticity and the people of Indore had to elect a parliamentarian for 8 consecutive times and the Prime Minister gave an opportunity to become a speaker.'' Talking to a famous website, she also gave a message to the people of Indore. She said, "Whatever opportunities are found in life, to do something, to do as good as it is at that time. You may get the result later. For years, the party that I worked for the party also remade and gave many important posts, but now the award given by the government is a great thing." Sumitra Mahajan has been the second woman to assume the post of Lok Sabha speaker after Meira Kumar. Sumitra Mahajan's political career, popularly known as Tai, started in the decade of 1980 years. She was elected deputy mayor of Indore. She is the only woman mp in the country who has won 8 consecutive Lok Sabha elections from the same Lok Sabha constituency, from the same party.
