Srinagar: At least two militants were killed in an encounter between militants and security forces in Khanmoh area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday morning. A search operation is still being carried out by the security forces in the area. The slain militants belonged to al-Badr terror outfit. A joint team of Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Reserve Police Force has launched a cordon and search operation. IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar told media that two terrorists killed in the encounter were from al-Badr terror outfit. Another unidentified terrorist was killed in an encounter in Khanmoh area. The search operation is on. Police said, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the area based on the information about the presence of terrorists there. It said the operation turned into an encounter after militants opened fire on security forces posts. According to Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir Vijay Kumar, an improvised explosive device (IED) was detected and unprovoked between Sugan and Turka Wangam security forces in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. Media quoted Kumar as saying that the security establishment had already received inputs regarding installation of IED in Turka Wangam area.
