New Delhi: A Sri Lankan national from the Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu was arrested with 26 kg of hashish in February this year, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) said on Saturday. According to a press release issued by NCB zonal director Amit Ghawate, M Vasantan alias Prashant was arrested on Friday in connection with the case. The statement said, 'The drug was recovered from two of his associates from Tuticorin and later arrested.' The recovered hashish was supplied by Vasant. He used to send Hashish to Sri Lanka by fishing name. He also used to supply it in the locality. In Chennai, the business was run by Vasant and was one of the biggest smugglers there. He used to supply hashish through boys and girls to evade the police. Five alleged drug traffickers including two technical experts and a law student were arrested in Bengaluru. Drugs worth Rs 30 lakh were seized from them. Based on a tip-off, police raided a place in Bayadarhalli and seized 300 drug pills, 150 LSD strips, 250 grams of hashish, and ganja from there.
