3 countries show naval strength in Bay of Bengal, first phase of exercise completes

New Delhi: The Indian Navy conducted manoeuvres with the US, Japan and Australia naval forces. The first phase of Malabar Naval Exercise in the Bay of Bengal has been completed. The second phase of this exercise will begin in the Arabian Sea this month. It is considered a warning for China. Five submarines of the Indian Navy participated in the first phase exercise.

The warships of America, Japan and Australia also showed their power. At a time when China is expanding its expansionist policy in the Indo-Pacific region, the navies of four powerful democratic countries coming together and doing manoeuvres is seen as a direct challenge to China. Significantly, this exercise was started on November 3. The epidemic of coronavirus led to complete exercise in the 'non-contact-at-sea' format in view of the applicable Covid-19 protocols. That is, the navies of the four countries demonstrated their strength from a distance.

During the four-day exercise, the warships of the four countries in the Bay of Bengal practised by creating conditions of war. This was the first time in the last 13 years when the navies of these four countries were taking part in a naval exercise together. The first stage of Malabar Exercise included Indian Navy Destroyer Rannvijay, Warship Shivalik, Offshore Petrol Ship Sukanya, Fleet Support Ship INS Shakti and Submarine Sindhuraj.
