30 bank employees died from corona in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: A leading employees union of banks has claimed that 15,000 bank employees in Gujarat have been hit by coronavirus so far. Meanwhile, 30 employees have died due to the deadly virus in the last month during the second wave. In view of the prevailing situation, The Maha Gujarat Bank Employees' Association (MGBEA) has sought a reduction in cash withdrawal hours, additional leave, and relaxation in working hours.

The union affiliated with the All India Bank Employees Association has written to Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani urging him to intervene in the matter. Tell us that CM Rupani is also the Chairman of the State Level Banking Committee (SLBC). MGBEA said that about 9,900 bank branches in Gujarat employ 50,000 bank employees. The letter said that after reports that the coronavirus is transmitted by air, bank employees are also afraid to enter the branch premises or interact with customers.

The union has said that 30 bank employees have died due to infection during the last month. In many branches, all the employees have become infected. The union has demanded some exemption from bank employees in view of the second wave of covid from Rupani.
