NEW DELHI: On Friday, 30 MPs from Bihar's NDA met Prime Minister Modi at Parliament House. During the meeting, MPs from BJP, JD(U), and other NDA constituent parties greeted the Prime Minister. They also presented special gifts, showcasing the rich tradition and culture of Bihar. While the meeting is being termed as a courtesy visit, political circles are speculating about its significance.
The budget session of Parliament was on its sixth day on Friday. The session had begun on January 31 with President Draupadi Murmu addressing a joint sitting of both houses. Following that, on February 1, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman presented the first full budget of Modi Government 3.0. The budget made several announcements for the electoral state of Bihar, ranging from the establishment of a Makhana Board to the development of a Green Field Airport. Now, NDA MPs have met PM Modi to convey their congratulations.
Bihar NDA MPs Meet PM Modi
On Friday, 30 NDA MPs from Bihar gathered with PM Modi at Parliament House. During the meeting, the Prime Minister was presented with various special gifts. One MP made PM Modi wear a turban adorned with Mithila's distinctive painting, while another gifted him a shawl featuring Madhubani art. In addition, some MPs brought special packets of makhana for the Prime Minister. Throughout the interaction, PM Modi appeared genuinely delighted to meet the MPs.
The Meeting Sparks Speculation Ahead of Elections
Terming the numerous development announcements for Bihar in the 2025 Budget as significant, the NDA MPs expressed their gratitude to the central government led by PM Modi. However, once the picture of the meeting surfaced, it sparked a flurry of discussions in Bihar’s political circles. With the Bihar Assembly elections scheduled for later this year, many are interpreting the meeting as a sign of political maneuvering. For now, though, it is being officially described as a courtesy visit.
