Maharashtra: 38 inmates of Byculla jail fall under trap of coronavirus

Mumbai: In Maharashtra, along with the general public, inmates of jails are also suffering from corona infection. Hundreds of prisoners have been infected in the state so far and many have also lost their lives. After the jails of Pune, Nagpur, the infection has now reached the Byculla Jail in Mumbai as well. Here, 38 prisoners including Indrani Mukherjee, accused in the Sheena Bora murder case, have been found to be Corona positive. This information has been given by the Byculla Jail Authority.

Let there be a total of 46 jails in Maharashtra. In these jails, at least 200 prisoners have come under the grip of Corona, out of which 7 prisoners have died. More than 94 jail staff have also been corona infected. Out of these, 8 employees have died due to corona. At least 30 inmates of Aadharwadi jail of Kalyan city in Thane district of Maharashtra have been found to be corona positive. In this jail, more than 1800 prisoners are in jail. All the inmates of the jail were recently investigated and 30 of them were found positive. The infected prisoner was admitted to Thane Civil Hospital.

A 77-year-old infected prisoner infected with the coronavirus has died in Nagpur's Central Jail. An officer said that the man who runs a company providing security personnel was arrested in the case of fraud. He was admitted to the hospital on 15 April. After being discharged from the hospital, the oxygen level in his body started falling in the jail and he lost his life on Monday.
